NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (N.S.S.)
The National Service Scheme has been introduced in this college from the session 1971-1972. All the students of the college are eligible to join as N.S.S. volunteers.
Objectives of NSS:
The overall objectives of NSS are to enrich the academic experience of the students. This can be realized by providing different opportunities like.
a) To understand the realities of social life through direct experience.
b) To realize one's responsibility to the community
c) To develop a spirit of fellow feeling and service to the needy.
d) To inculcate in the students the value of citizenship and democratic leadership
e) To acquire skill, insight & understanding in working with people
f) To understand the value of constructive social action.
g) To understand the dignity of labor.
h) To inculcate in the students a sense of national unity. & provide incentives to the students.
With regard to the measures necessary to encourage wider participation, the following incentives are given. 1. Allowance for conveyance, food, refreshment. Etc.
2. Award of certificates and medals in recognition to distinguished services at College, State and national level.
3. Proper publicity to the work
4. Supply of uniform and blazers
5. Preference in job.
6. Opportunity to participate in national and regional service of development. Work:
A student who joins the NSS shall have to perform 120 hours of field work out of which 70 hours of field work will be done in the camp in prescribed days.
